Toxbooster Treatment

  • Lifts dark spots & sun damage
  • Smooths fine lines & wrinkles
  • Brightens and evens skin tone
  • Promotes skin elasticity

Why Combine Both Treatments?

Fine lines & wrinkles are often considered to be the main sign of aging. But did you know that dark spots & sun damage are inhibiting your youthful glow? And what about skin sagging and texture? Combining a VI Peel + Neurotoxin Injection together targets ALL signs of aging.

This is just one of several powerful combinations that can enhance and/or supplement the benefits of VI Peel Precision Plus, including reducing fine lines and wrinkles, for more well-rounded results. VI Peel can also be combined with laser treatments for more comprehensive benefits. Most laser treatments stimulate collagen production by heating the skin, which in turn enhances the skin’s texture and reduces the appearance of scars and other blemishes.

If you’re considering combining VI Peel with other treatments, or if you have any other questions regarding this transformative skin resurfacing treatment, our team at South Jersey Aesthetics is here to help. Contact us for a consultation, and we will work with you to develop a plan that incorporates your preferred treatments for optimal results.

What Is the VI Peel Precision Plus?

The VI Peel Precision Plus is an advanced version of the original VI Peel, formulated specifically for treating pigmentation issues and skin discoloration, such as melasma, age spots, sun spots, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (dark spots left from acne). It’s a highly effective, non-invasive peel designed to improve skin tone, texture, and clarity. This peel uses a combination of acids and powerful antioxidants, including TCA (Trichloroacetic Acid), salicylic acid, retinoic acid, and vitamin C, to promote skin rejuvenation and break up melanin (the pigment that causes dark spots). The result is clearer, brighter, and more even skin.

How Does the VI Peel Precision Plus Work?

The VI Peel Precision Plus works by exfoliating the top layer of skin to remove dead cells, which helps to stimulate the skin’s natural regeneration process. The combination of ingredients in this peel works in several ways:

Exfoliation: The acids break down the bonds between dead skin cells, allowing for gentle shedding and revealing fresh, new skin underneath.

Pigmentation Treatment: Key ingredients, such as hydroquinone and vitamin C, target the production of melanin, breaking up dark spots and hyperpigmentation to promote a more even skin tone.

Skin Regeneration: The peel stimulates collagen and elastin production, which helps with skin rejuvenation and tightening, improving the skin’s texture and firmness over time.

Benefits of the VI Peel Precision Plus

Treats Hyperpigmentation and Dark Spots: The peel is especially effective at targeting stubborn pigmentation issues such as sun spots, age spots, melasma, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation caused by acne scars. It helps break down excess melanin to lighten and brighten the skin.

Improves Skin Tone and Texture: By removing the outer layer of dead skin cells, the peel helps to reveal smoother, more even-textured skin. It also improves skin tone, leaving the complexion looking fresher and more radiant.

Reduces the Appearance of Fine Lines and Wrinkles: The VI Peel Precision Plus stimulates collagen production, which helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles over time, giving the skin a more youthful look.

Brightens and Revitalizes the Skin: With ingredients like vitamin C and retinoic acid, the peel helps restore skin radiance and glow, giving it a brighter, healthier appearance.

Safe for Most Skin Types: The VI Peel Precision Plus is designed to be safe and effective for most skin types, including those with sensitive skin. It’s particularly useful for individuals with darker skin tones who may have a higher risk of post-treatment hyperpigmentation with other types of peels.

Minimal Downtime: Compared to more invasive treatments, the VI Peel Precision Plus has relatively minimal downtime. While you may experience some redness and peeling for a few days post-treatment, most people can return to their normal activities shortly after the procedure.

Improves Skin Clarity and Reduces Acne Scarring: While primarily used for hyperpigmentation, this peel also helps to clear out clogged pores and reduce the appearance of acne scars, leaving the skin looking clearer and more refined.

Targets Sun Damage: The powerful combination of ingredients helps reverse some of the damage caused by UV rays, including sun spots and other types of pigmentation caused by excessive sun exposure.

Customizable Treatment: The treatment is typically quick, taking about 30 minutes to complete. This makes it an ideal option for patients with busy schedules.

VI Peel Precision Plus vs. Standard Chemical Peels

While both VI Peel Precision Plus and more conventional chemical peel treatments use similar mechanisms to target many of the same issues, VI Peel Precision plus boasts several advantages over the alternatives. This is thanks to its more robust and sophisticated formulation, melanogenesis targeting, and controlled application.

First, where standard chemical peels are typically formulated with one acid (glycolic or salicylic acid, for example), VI Peel Precision Plus features a denser and more varied formulation, including the aforementioned TCA (trichloroacetic acid), retinoic acid, salicylic acid, and various lightening compounds like kojic acid. This carefully balanced, yet powerful combination is much more effective at targeting and alleviating more hard-to-treat cases of skin discoloration, sun damage, and similar concerns.

Plus, being specifically formulated to directly target and attack the process of melanogenesis helps VI Peel Precision Plus outperform standard chemical peels – which target a broader range of concerns – in this application. This also allows the treatment to produce more dramatic results among patients of darker skin tones, who tend to have adverse reactions to powerful treatments.

Finally, VI Peel Precision Plus is much more predictable in terms of the tissue depth that it treats, while other chemical peels can vary widely in this regard, making it hard to gauge precise benefits, recovery, and other important details.

Who Is a Good Candidate for the VI Peel Precision Plus?

People with Hyperpigmentation: Ideal for those struggling with stubborn dark spots, melasma, sun spots, and acne scarring.

Individuals with Uneven Skin Tone: If you have a dull complexion or uneven skin tone, the VI Peel Precision Plus can help brighten and revitalize your skin.

Those Seeking Anti-Aging Benefits: The peel helps reduce fine lines and wrinkles, making it suitable for those wanting to combat early signs of aging.

Anyone Looking to Improve Skin Texture: Whether you have rough, uneven skin or acne scars, the peel helps smooth out skin texture and promotes a clearer complexion.

Patients with Sensitive Skin: Unlike some harsher peels, the VI Peel Precision Plus is designed to be safe and effective for most skin types, including sensitive skin, making it accessible for a wide range of people.

The VI Peel Precision Plus Treatment Process: What to Expect

An important first step in VI Peel Precision Plus treatment (and any other) is the consultation appointment. In this initial appointment, we will determine your candidacy for this treatment by evaluating your skin type and current condition.

We will also review your medical history, including any current supplements or medications you’re currently taking, to ensure you are safely eligible to undergo treatment. In some cases, ceasing the use of certain medications or treatments may be required as part of the preparation process. Finally, it’s important that every patient has reasonable expectations of the results that VI Peel Precision Plus is capable of providing.

Once it’s time for treatment, we will first prepare the treatment area by cleaning the skin, including removing any makeup in the area. Once the skin is clean and fully prepped for treatment, the peel is applied in a layered fashion. Pausing briefly between layers allows for better uptake of the formulation by the skin. During this time, you may feel a gentle tingling sensation, but not to the point of significant discomfort. After the final layer is applied, it will remain on your skin, and you will leave treatment without taking it off.

Recovery, Aftercare, and Follow-Up Scheduling

First, it’s important to understand what post-treatment effects to look out for. Typical effects following VI Peel treatment are similar in nature to those of standard chemical peels, including a mild tingling or itching sensation affecting the treated area, some redness, and swelling.

Patients are often provided with a take-home aftercare kit, which comes with towelettes (including towelettes containing retinoic acid), specially formulated skin hydration products, sun protection, and others. You will be instructed on proper aftercare, which begins several hours after treatment, when you are to remove the peel.

Then, around three days following your session, the skin typically begins to peel, and will continue to do so for as long as five or six days afterwards. Though it may still be itching, it’s very important not to irritate the skin during this process by picking at or scratching it. As the skin progresses through this phase and starts to recover, you may gradually begin reintegrating products from your skincare routine, starting with the most gentle topical products first. Contact our providers for a more detailed and personalized breakdown of post-care instructions.

As you near the two-week window, you may be encouraged to schedule a follow-up appointment, as this is an appropriate time to check for early results (more radiant complexion, rebalanced skin tone, etc.). Many patients opt to undergo a series of sessions spaced several weeks apart—this is best determined on a case-by-case basis with your provider. It’s important to consistently maintain aftercare practices between sessions to ensure the best overall results.

VI Peel Frequently Asked Questions

How many sessions of VI Peel Precision Plus will I need?

This answer depends on several factors unique to each case, including the nature and extent of your aesthetic concerns, your goals and expectations, the practitioner’s strategy, and more. That said, many patients see the best results after 3-5 treatment sessions. Sessions are typically spaced between 4-6 weeks apart. Once satisfied with their results, patients often opt to undergo maintenance treatments at a frequency of 1-2 times per year. Contact us if you have any additional questions regarding VI Peel Precision Plus or our other cosmetic treatments.

How quickly will I see results after a VI Peel treatment?

The skin needs some time to absorb this treatment and replace layers of damaged or dead skin cells (hence the peeling). While you may notice some more subtle signs of improvement within a week of the treatment, full results are typically visible around the 3-week mark. Over this time, the skin will continue to brighten, improving both its texture and tone. It’s vital that you follow all aftercare instructions, including not picking at or scratching the treatment area, in order to best preserve your results.

When can I re-apply makeup?

In most cases, patients are cautioned against re-applying makeup until after the peeling phase has concluded. This typically means waiting roughly a week, or slightly less, to re-apply makeup. However long it takes in your case, the key takeaway is that you do not apply makeup before the skin has finished peeling.

What if I have darker skin?

One of the most widely praised advantages of VI Peel Precision Plus treatment over the alternative options is its ability to effectively treat all Fitzpatrick skin types. This includes darker skin tones, which tend to have more issues with post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. People with darker skin tones are often unable to receive laser skin resurfacing treatments, as the higher melanin content in the skin absorbs more light and invites unintended damage. But VI Peel Precision Plus works around this issue, making it a safe and effective option for people of all skin types.

What things should I avoid doing following my VI Peel treatment?

While this is a non-surgical treatment with very little downtime, it’s still important to avoid certain practices that can negatively impact the healing process and/or your results. For example, prolonged sun exposure (especially without sunscreen), heavy exercise, use of harsh abrasives or topical products, and submerging yourself underwater are all typically discouraged following VI Peel precision treatment. Always refer to your treatment provider when establishing proper aftercare practices.
