Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy is a versatile approach to healing and aesthetics that leverages the body’s innate capabilities. At South Jersey Aesthetics, we have embraced this versatility to offer a wide range of PRP treatments to our patients in Cape May Court House and South Jersey.
We use PRP in facial treatments, scalp treatments, and intimate-wellness injection procedures for men and women. It is part of our offerings because it uses only the patient’s own plasma and involves very little discomfort and minimal downtime — not because the evidence is settled. It is not.
About this procedure and FDA status. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is prepared from your own blood. The centrifuge systems used to prepare PRP are FDA-cleared devices, but PRP itself is not FDA-approved for facial rejuvenation, hair restoration, breast enhancement, or sexual wellness, and this use is considered off-label. Published evidence is limited and mixed, and outcomes vary considerably between individuals. Results are not guaranteed. What Is PRP?
Platelet-rich plasma is a therapy that uses blood taken directly from the patient on the day of treatment. During the process, blood is drawn by a New Jersey-licensed registered nurse and then spun to separate the plasma and platelets from other blood components. The plasma with platelets and growth factors will appear as a straw-colored substance on top, which can be separated from the underlying red blood cells. Once this process is completed, the PRP can be placed in a syringe and reintroduced into the body at targeted areas, where the natural growth factors found in the substance can support tissue repair and rejuvenation.
What Are the Benefits of PRP?
- Reduced Inflammation: Laboratory and early clinical work suggests platelet growth factors may modulate inflammation and support tissue repair. How much of that translates into a visible cosmetic result is not established.
- Facial Rejuvenation: Platelet-rich plasma is used in facial treatments with the aim of supporting collagen production. Many patients report a fresher skin appearance; the size of the effect varies and is not guaranteed.
- Sexual Health Improvement: PRP is injected into genital tissue in the O-Shot and P-Shot procedures. Patients most often seek these with goals around sensation and confidence during intimacy. The evidence is limited and mixed, and these are not treatments for a medical condition.
- Improved Scalp and Hair Health: PRP scalp injections are used for hair thinning. Some studies report improved hair density; others show little effect. Whether it is appropriate depends on the type and cause of hair loss, which is assessed at your consultation.
- Increased Skin Tightness and Volume: PRP facials combine microneedling with your own plasma. Many patients report improved skin texture and glow; the size of the effect varies and is not guaranteed.
- Natural Improvements: Utilizing the body’s own resources, PRP treatments stand out for their natural approach to healing and rejuvenation; because nothing synthetic is added to the injection, an allergic reaction to the PRP itself is not expected. PRP is still an injection procedure with real risks — bruising, swelling, infection, and lumps at an injection site among them.
- No Downtime: One of the most significant benefits of PRP treatments is the minimal to no downtime required. Patients can resume their daily activities almost immediately, making it a convenient option for those with busy lifestyles.

Vampire Facials® and Vampire Facelifts®
The Vampire Facial, another name for a PRP facial, combines microneedling with the application of PRP. This treatment begins by preparing the skin with the microneedling device, followed by the application of PRP. The aim is to support collagen production and recovery after microneedling. A Vampire Facelift involves injecting PRP into key areas of the face with the aim of softening lines and improving skin quality. Many patients report a fresher appearance; results vary and are not guaranteed.
PRP Hair Restoration
PRP hair treatment is a drug-free, non-surgical option for hair thinning. PRP is injected into the scalp where thinning is evident, with the aim of supporting follicle activity. Some studies report improved hair density; others show little effect. It is generally considered most likely to help in the early stages of thinning, while follicles are still active.
Vampire Breast Lift®
Our Vampire Breast Lift, another form of PRP therapy, is designed to enhance the appearance of the breasts without invasive surgery. This treatment involves injecting PRP into specific areas of the breast to encourage tissue growth and improve skin texture. Patients typically seek it hoping for subtle changes in skin quality and the appearance of the décolletage. It does not change breast size and is not a substitute for surgery. The evidence for PRP in the breast is very limited, and it is performed only by Dr. Francis after a consultation.
O-Shot®
The O-Shot is an injection of PRP into the tissue around the clitoris and the front wall of the vagina. Women most often ask about it with goals around sensation, arousal, and confidence during intimacy. It is not a treatment for any medical condition; a patient with a medical concern is evaluated for that first. It is performed only by Dr. Francis after a consultation.
P-Shot®
The P-Shot is an injection of PRP into the tissue of the penis. Men most often ask about it with goals around sensation, firmness, and confidence. It is not a treatment for any medical condition and it does not change size. It is performed only by Dr. Francis after a consultation.
Who is not a candidate
PRP is not offered to patients who have a bleeding or platelet disorder, who take anticoagulant (blood-thinning) medication, who have an active infection or a cold sore at or near the treatment area, who are pregnant or breastfeeding, or who have a blood-related cancer or any active cancer under treatment. It is also not appropriate for patients who are unwell on the day of treatment, who have taken certain anti-inflammatory or steroid medications shortly before, or who have a history of poor healing or keloid scarring in the treatment area. Every PRP treatment requires an examination and an order from a licensed prescriber first, and we will tell you plainly if PRP is not right for you.
