About this procedure and FDA status. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is prepared from your own blood. The centrifuge systems used to prepare PRP are FDA-cleared devices, but PRP itself is not FDA-approved for sexual wellness, and this use is considered off-label. Published evidence is limited and mixed, and outcomes vary considerably between individuals. Results are not guaranteed. What Is the P-Shot?
The P-Shot is a proprietary name for a PRP injection procedure. A small amount of your blood is drawn, spun in a centrifuge to concentrate the platelets, and the resulting plasma is injected into the penis. Nothing is added to the injection — no medication, no filler, no foreign substance. It is entirely your own plasma. Men most often ask about the P-Shot with goals around sensation, firmness, and confidence during intimacy.
What the evidence shows
The theory behind PRP is that concentrated platelets release growth factors that support tissue repair and local blood flow. The published research on PRP injected into the penis is small, mostly early-stage, and mixed: some studies report improvements in patient-reported measures, others show no difference from placebo, and there is no large, high-quality trial establishing a benefit. We tell you this because it is true and because you should decide with the evidence in front of you. The P-Shot is not a treatment for any medical condition, and we do not offer it as one. What the P-Shot does not do
The P-Shot is not a size-enhancement procedure and we do not represent it as one. It does not add length, and any provider promising length gains from an injection is someone to walk away from. Who is not a candidate
PRP is not offered to patients who have a bleeding or platelet disorder, who take anticoagulant (blood-thinning) medication, who have an active infection or a cold sore at or near the treatment area, who are pregnant or breastfeeding, or who have a blood-related cancer or any active cancer under treatment. It is also not appropriate for patients who are unwell on the day of treatment, who have taken certain anti-inflammatory or steroid medications shortly before, or who have a history of poor healing or keloid scarring in the treatment area. Men with a history of priapism, penile implants, or an untreated condition of the genital tract need a medical evaluation before any injection is considered. Every PRP treatment requires an examination and an order from a licensed prescriber first, and we will tell you plainly if PRP is not right for you.
The Treatment Process
Consultation. Dr. Francis examines you, reviews your history and medications, and discusses what the evidence does and does not support. A consultation is required before the P-Shot can be scheduled.
Blood draw. Your blood is drawn by a New Jersey-licensed registered nurse. The sample is the same size as a routine lab draw.
Preparation. Your blood is spun in a centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich plasma from the red cells. This takes about ten minutes.
Numbing. A prescription-strength topical anesthetic is applied for patient comfort.
Injection. Dr. Francis injects the PRP using a fine needle into specific areas of the penis. The injection itself takes a few minutes. No sedation is used and you can drive yourself home.
Risks and side effects
Every injection carries risk. The most common effects are temporary bruising, swelling, and soreness at the injection sites, which usually settle within a few days. Less common risks include bleeding, infection, lumps or firmness at an injection site, and pain. It is also possible that you notice no change at all. We ask you to avoid sexual activity for a few days after treatment to let the tissue settle.
Results
Some men report changes within a few weeks; others report none. Where a change is reported, it is typically described in months rather than years, and some patients choose a repeat treatment. Results vary considerably between individuals and are not guaranteed.

Most men who choose the P-Shot have a single treatment and then decide, with Dr. Francis, whether a repeat is worthwhile based on what they experienced. There is no fixed series. We design a plan with you at your consultation, and we will tell you if we do not think a further treatment is likely to help.
There is no downtime in the sense of missing work. Men resume normal daily activities after the appointment. We do ask you to avoid sexual activity for the first few days after the injections so the tissue can settle and to reduce the chance of bruising or discomfort.
Responses vary widely. Some men report a change within the first couple of weeks; for others it takes several weeks, and some report no change. We will set a realistic expectation with you before you decide to proceed.
Where a change is reported, patients typically describe it in months rather than years, and the duration varies considerably from person to person. Some men choose a maintenance treatment later. Results are not guaranteed, and we do not quote a fixed duration.
