The Dental Block
Completely Numb Before We BeginBefore any filler touches your lips, we place a dental block — the same local anesthesia your dentist uses. Your lips are fully numb, not “mostly numb with a topical cream.”
Every injector here does it, on every lip treatment, at no extra charge. We don’t know of another practice in the area that offers professional dental blocks for lip filler.
The Microcannula
Less Swelling. Less Bruising.Instead of puncturing your lips repeatedly with a sharp needle, we use a flexible, blunt-tipped microcannula through a single entry point. It glides under the skin rather than piercing through it.
The result: dramatically less tissue trauma — which means dramatically less swelling and bruising — plus an added safety margin, because a blunt tip is far less likely to enter a blood vessel.

We talk about the look you want — subtle hydration, definition, or volume — and choose the right filler for your anatomy. Natural is the default here. And there’s no second appointment to schedule: consult and procedure happen the same day.

A few minutes later your lips are completely numb. This is the step that makes the rest of the appointment uneventful — in the best way.

Does it hurt?
With a dental block, your lips are completely numb before we start. Most patients describe the appointment as pressure at most — many say the numbing itself was the only thing they felt all day.
Will I swell up and bruise?
Far less than you’ve seen on social media. The microcannula uses one entry point instead of dozens of needle sticks, so most patients have mild swelling that settles within a day or two. Bruising is uncommon.
How long does lip filler last?
Typically 6–12 months depending on the product, your metabolism, and how much movement your lips get. We’ll recommend a touch-up cadence at your visit.
What if I don’t like it?
Every lip filler we use is hyaluronic acid — fully dissolvable. That’s the most underrated word in this field: reversible.
Do I need a separate consultation first?
No. Your consultation and your treatment happen in the same visit — walk in with questions, walk out with your lips done.
Who does the injecting?
Your choice: Dr. Francis, who has been injecting since 2003, or our experienced RN, NP, and PA injectors. Everyone here performs the dental block and uses the microcannula technique.
